Welcome
Every Sunday at 10am and 5pm, we hold services in the main church building. We’d love you to visit!
St John’s Anglican Church is a diverse community ranging from sceptics to committed followers of Jesus.
Wherever you are coming from, and whatever questions or issues you may be facing, you are welcome here.
Our church is far more than just a building or a social club; it is a family of people who are seeking truth, practising goodness, and creating beauty.
We are located just 350m from King’s Cross Station in Darlinghurst. If you are traveling here by car, there is parking in the basement of the HammondCare building next door and in the neighbourhood nearby the church.
Our church service is not about entertainment, but rather about the glory of God and the training of our hearts and minds. Through liturgy and sacraments, we seek to enact the gospel—the good news of God’s rescue and restoration of the world in Jesus. Our transcendent liturgy is rooted in ancient tradition, but it is also contemporary and accessible. You will find people here just like you, participating together in worship that is both celebratory and reverent.
In the service, we sing both classic and contemporary songs led by the musicians who make up our community. We listen to portions of scripture read aloud, and then hear a sermon that relates the Bible to daily life. We take time to pray for our city, our church, and the world. And, every Sunday, our service culminates in Holy Communion, a joyful feast that is open to all baptised Christians and that embodies our relationship with God and with all other Christians throughout space and time.
